East London runs on coffee. Whether you're a flat white loyalist or a filter coffee devotee, this corner of the city has some of the most characterful, colourful, and downright brilliant cafés in the world. We've been illustrating them for years — and we think it's time to celebrate them properly.
Here are our favourite East London coffee shops, immortalised in print.
Climpson & Sons, Broadway Market
A Broadway Market institution. Climpson & Sons has been serving some of the finest specialty coffee in London since 2002, and the queue on a Saturday morning is basically a neighbourhood ritual. The shopfront alone deserves a frame on your wall.
Allpress Espresso, Redchurch Street
Tucked into a converted railway arch in Shoreditch, Allpress is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've discovered something. Exposed brick, great light, and coffee roasted on-site. It's a Shoreditch classic.
Ozone Coffee Roasters, Leonard Street
A transplant from New Zealand that's become a proper East London fixture. Huge space, serious coffee, and a brunch menu that justifies the wait. The bold signage is very us.
Nude Espresso, Hanbury Street
Right on the edge of Brick Lane, Nude Espresso is a neighbourhood staple with a loyal following. Small, unpretentious, and consistently excellent.
Whether you're a regular at one of these spots or you're planning your next East London coffee crawl, our London Coffee Shops prints and East London Coffee Cups collection are the perfect way to bring a bit of that café energy home. Bold colours, iconic shopfronts, and a whole lot of love for this city.
